The virtual public experiment used the RELAX Chakra Tune-Up Video as the principal element in the experiment. The RELAX video consists of seven 2-minute exercises resulting in a 15 minute video. Each exercise was associated with a specific color, tone, and body motion connected to its specific chakra. The exercises were conducted in chakra and color order, from root to crown, or red to purple. Participants were directed to follow the video with sound at a high volume in low light or complete darkness in their space of choice with a yoga mat and comfortable clothes. The idea that they can receive color therapy through the video itself in a room with low light. The video provides an immersive color with each chakra, providing colored ambient light that bounces off the screen and around the participant. The sound comes directly from whatever source they choose - headphones, phone speaker, Bluetooth sound system, etc.
While the participants could choose whatever type of space they desired to use for practice, the best spaces discovered in my personal practice were small white rooms where the light could bounce off the walls. Each chakra/color was also connected with a droning tone of a shruti box. For example, the first segment is red, devoted to the first chakra, the root, known as mudalahara, and this chakra, according to the Spectrasomatics methodology, is connected to the Key of D, and therefore the exercises work the legs, feet, and base of the spine. The shruti box drones in the key of D as the participant views the red light screen, following the instructor’s root-inspired movements. Seated spinal circles, a technique found in kundalini yoga, is used as the movement associated with the root chakra in this specific video. The video focuses on each chakra for 2 minutes. Participants were encouraged to follow the video every day for one week in the darkness.
