Trash Cocoon
This live performance occurred in early 2017 at Greenkill Gallery in Kingston NY, curated by Ming Liu. Using a huge “trash skin”, a piece of fluid wall art/puppet skin made from recycled objects, plastic bags, and more, Anna hides underneath perched against a wall, causing the trash skin to breathe through subtle movements. At one point, the trash skin is dropped and reveals Anna, tied in plastic rope shibari bondage and smeared with black oil, that drips from her mouth, sickening like vomit. She represents the animal filled with oil sludge, or the sick earth, the human sickness and addiction to fossil fuels.
