full circle
FULL CIRCLE was a site specific performance at Chacahua, Oaxaca, Mexico, in 2021 with performers Alejandro Chellet and Maira Duarte. It consisted of a pair of lovers that walked backward into the ocean and tore each other apart. These two performers destroyed the masks they wore by their own hands and by the force of the surf of the Pacific Ocean. In the end, the masculine mask (the moon) stayed more intact than the feminine mask (the nopal), creating an outcome which symbolized the destructive force of patriarchy.
