Departing from mask, costume and performance, Anna returns to her early roots of painting in this series of jungle inspired works. This series is a response to living in an increasingly concrete world and losing overgrown, wild spaces of forests and jungles. This loss of habitat is a detriment to ourselves, for we need nature to be healthy, and in our technological society, we continue to connect to AI but disconnect from nature. Disconnection to nature can cause depression, anxiety, and an unregulated nervous system. These tangled forest scenes allude to the tangled sensations the mind experiences in mental illness and are an effort to fill man-made spaces with the sensation of a forest.
